Operating safety

Save wiring work and development time but most of all a safe operation in thermal processes.

Challenge

In thermal processes, safe operation is also a key issue. The interlock system protects operator and system from excess temperature and other unsafe conditions. When a machine experiences problems, it has to fail safe and the operator simultaneously warned. The indication of risk needs to be recognized easily in the local language. On the other hand, the machine operation needs to be flexible enough to maintain high-productivity. For instance, during partial maintenance, the machine needs to be operated without being completely shut down. Furthermore, when an extra safety sensor is added, the system has to be re-designed and a lot of rewiring is necessary with a conventionally wired safety system.

Solution

Omron offers a software safety control system conforming to SEMI/S2, which can be combined with DeviceNet for saving on wiring, PLC for machine control, and HMI for safety monitoring in the local language. The programmable safety circuit allows you to improve the ease of design and modification dramatically. The safety I/O expandability allows you to improve the ease of customization for each mechanical structure. DeviceNet compatibility allows you to link information to machine control or HMI and to monitor the risk indications easily. Furthermore, the change of language in the display and local-language design is made easy with Omron's HMI terminals.
